A big hit in 1963 by Oz crooner Darryl Stewart was "I Watch The Surf" which got to #34 nationally. It was originally an instrumental called "Surfside" (click to see 1963 newspaper article at right).The original track was written by Johnny Devlin and Nat Kipner (father of Steve). The lyrics were worked by Sydney radio announcer Graham Webb.
The song was later issued on an E.P. and has occasionally popped up on surf albums but has not to my knowledge been on CD.Here for download is a copy of the original mono 7" of "I Watch The Surf":
