DOWNLOAD NO.173 - BETTY MCQUADE

Betty McQuade, came from a family of Scottish entertainers. She started her career by winning a talent quest in Brisbane ca.1955. For five years Betty performed at many Brisbane venues including Cloudland, various clubs and on television shows. She also featured with Col Joye and Johnny O’Keefe at Festival Hall Brisbane. Betty went to Melbourne in 1960 singing with The Thunderbirds and after developing substantial public support, was selected by Astor Records to vanguard their new policy of signing talented Australian artists. Betty’s first recording for Astor was "Midnight Bus" in 1961, which went top-ten in most states but with considerable time lag between charting.

Midnight Bus went to #6 in 1961 in Melbourne and then gestated for 4 years. In 1965 it went to #17 in Brisbane, #39 in Melbourne and #11 in Perth.

This download is beefed up with more bass. Enjoy "Midnight Bus":
