*(SEE PREVIOUS POSTINGS FOR "DAY BY DAY" AND "WALTZING MATILDA").
COLLEEN HEWETT'S EARLY HITS HAVE BEEN IGNORED BY C.D. COMPILERS AND VERY FEW OF HER GEMS HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE DIGITAL TREATMENT.
COLLEEN'S CAREER HAS GONE FROM THE 1960s TO THE PRESENT AND SHE IS STILL MANAGING TO PUT OUT NEW MUSIC. IT IS A SHAME THAT HER OLD SONGS DON'T GET A LOOK-IN!
FOR DOWNLOAD IS HER #38 HIT FROM 1973 CALLED "SIT YOURSELF DOWN" WHICH SHOWS JUST HOW ACCOMPLISHED SHE IS. "SIT YOURSELF DOWN" WAS A STEPHEN STILLS SONG AND SHE DID A GREAT VERSION.
THE VERSION RIPPED FOR DOWNLOAD WAS FROM HER 1974 GREATEST HITS ALBUM WHICH ALSO CONTAINED "CARRY THAT WEIGHT". THE VINYL RIP IS VERY GOOD AS I HAVE KEPT THIS ALBUM UNDER WRAPS SINCE I WAS 18 YEARS OLD.

My favourite Colleen song Tom. Thanks for giving it more exposure as it was ignored in most states of Australia & should have been a much bigger hit for her. Plus as I mentioned on my own post of Colleen Hewett's Greatest Hits on Midoztouch, my own 2 copies of the L.P. left something to be desired so it's nice to have a clean copy of this & Waltzing Matilda.

Hi Tom,
ReplyDeletejust wondering if you have a copy of or know how to get a copy of "If You Ever Feel The Need" by Colleen Hewett, released 1984. Can't seem to find it anywhere.
Cheers!
26-11-2012 My parcel arrived today with a vinyl 7" 45rpm of this song, along with 2 CD's of it. Took a couple of months, but could not find it anywhere else. Contact me on amp1947@hotmail.com for further information.
DeleteContact me on amp1947@hotmail.com. See above.
DeleteOne weekend morning in 1976 Double Jay (yes 2JJ) played Colleen's version of Prepare Ye (the way of the Lord) which I assume is from the Australian cast of Godspell. I was instantly enthralled by her vocals on that track (and quite cheesed later to find out it was a 'churchy' song).
ReplyDeleteI've never found it on vinyl or CD after three decades of hunting. But this is the closest I've come!
I've only just found your blog and I'm having a hoot working my way through the entries. I don't s'pose Godspell is in here somewhere? What about the original cast recording of Jesus Christ Superstar (Trevor White, Jon English, etc)? I've still got my purple vinyl copy! Talk to you soon on other entries. Keep up the good work!
