Joe Dolce an immigrant born 1947 Painesville, Ohio USA made it big in the 1980s in Oz with various novelty tracks. He moved to Melbourne ca.1978.

Many of his songs have been put on CD including “The Ballad Of Ugly Daisy” which was on the American CD “Honky-Tonk Stardust Cowboys”, Thriller” was on an Andrew Denton’s Musical Challenge CD, “If You Wanna Be Happy” was on an American CD of cover versions and “Pizza Pizza” was on an Aussie 2xCD set called “Looney Tunes”…but you never got all of the songs on one CD compilation of hits...

His most famous song “Shaddup You Face” has appeared on numerous compilation CDs, but did you know there was a longer extended 12” version of “Shaddup You Face”, running 4 mins 47 secs? The normal 7" single runs a modest 3 mins 12 secs. The 12" extended version of "Face" has not been released on CD anywhere around the world which is a shame because it is quite different in the parts that are missing from the single…

Some of Joe’s discography:

1968 - Joe made his first album called “Please Tell A Friend”, on Metromedia Records, with Jonathan Edwards (the singer of the hit “Sunshine”).

1980 - “Shaddup You Face” got to #1 nationally.

1981 - “If You Wanna Be Happy” got to #38 nationally.

1982 - “You Toucha My Car I Breaka You Face”

1984 - “Pizza Pizza

1985 - “Cocaine Lil”

2007 - Joe won second prize in an international song contest with his recording sung in French called “Lynetta”.

Joe has moved away from novelty to blues nowadays. The song “Lynetta” is jaunty but it's certainly not a novelty track...

I think it is about time someone in the Music Industry made a compilation CD which includes the extended version of “Shaddup You Face”...

Here for download is an edited “Pizza Pizza” from CD…so I guess you could call it a slice of Pizza!
