HARRY YOUNG GOT THE CALL TO MARTIN ERDMAN'S SYDNEY STUDIOS TO PUT HIS VOCALS OVER A COMPLETED BACKING TRACK LATE ONE NIGHT IN 1970. HARRY DIDN'T KNOW THE SONG BUT AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS OUT CAME A RATHER IMPRESSIVE VERSION OF "SAN BERNADINO" A SONG ORIGINALLY BY U.K. ARTIST JEFF CHRISTIE. WITH THE BIG RADIO BAN AT THE TIME IT WAS EASIER TO HAVE AN AUSSIE ARTIST COVER A TRACK FROM OVERSEAS...NUMEROUS AUSSIE ARTIST CAME TO PROMINENCE DURING THIS RADIO BAN PERIOD...
NOW, ALL THESE YEARS LATER, ERDMAN HAS ATTEMPTED TO RELEASE THE CD VERSION OF THIS SINGLE TWICE BUT EACH VERSION IS FULL OF RECORDING ANOMALIES AND POPS. I HAVE ASKED MARTIN A COUPLE OF TIMES TO CLEAN IT UP AND EVEN SENT HIM A COPY AFTER I WORKED ON IT. TO THIS DAY IT STILL SOUNDS AWFUL WITH CLICKS JUST ABOUT ONE SECOND APART ALL THE WAY THROUGH, YECH!!!
SO TO REDRESS THIS SITUATION I HAVE INCLUDED A COPY OF THE EXTENDED 12" TOM MIX VERSION OF "SAN BERNADINO" FOR DOWNLOAD. IT IS CLEAN AND SOUNDS WARM COMPARED TO WHAT IS AVAILABLE CURRENTLY ON CD.

DO YOU WANT SOME TRIVIA WITH THAT?
...IF YOU HAVE THE C.D. CALLED "RECOLLECTIONS" YOU WILL KNOW FROM THE LINER NOTES THAT HARRY AND CREW PERFORMED AT THE DORA CREEK WORKER'S CLUB AND SOME OF THEIR LIVE MIXES ARE INCLUDED. MY GRANDFATHER TOM AND HIS BROTHER GEORGE WERE 2 OF THE FOUNDING MEMBERS THAT STARTED THE DORA CREEK WORKER'S CLUB...
