DOWNLOAD NO.170 - THE MOTIVATION

Aussie pop instrumentalist The Atlantics started their own independent recording label, Ramrod Records, in September 1967. They were one of the first Oz bands to do so. As well as their own recordings, they put out recordings by other pop groups. One of those groups The Motivation hailed from NSW. They recorded 3 singles in 1968 for the Ramrod label.

Singles:

1968 "Boy Meets Girl" / "Running And Hiding" (All Of The Time)"

Ramrod RS-1008

1968 "Mr. Lonely Heart" / "Can't You See"

Ramrod RS-1009

1968 "Sympathy" / "Forty Years"

Ramrod RS-1012

The Motivation’s biggest hit was “Running And Hiding (All Of The Time)” which was the “B” side of their first single. It got to #31 in June 1968 in Sydney and charted for 9 weeks but they failed to achieve chart action in any other state of OZ. The “A” side “Boy Meets Girl” has been released on albums in Europe but it didn’t chart in Oz.

For download are both sides of the first single:

  1. Tom,

Thanks for the great posts. You always manage to dig up something interesting and your potted biographies/discographies are fantastic.

Both links you have posted are to the same tune "Running and Hiding All of The Time".
