DOWNLOAD NO.91 - TED BULL

TED BULL NOWADAYS IS A VETERAN A.B.C. NETWORK RADIO ANNOUNCER. MOST PEOPLE PROBABLY DON'T KNOW HE ONCE HAD AN ATTEMPT AT FAME AND FORTUNE IN THE MUSIC BUSINESS.

BACK IN THE EARLY 1970s ALL RADIO ANNOUNCERS WERE OBLIGED TO HAVE AT LEAST ONE GO AT RECORDING A SINGLE....THE SONG "MAGGIE" WAS TED'S ATTEMPT. (CLICK B&W PICTURE SHOWING TED INTERVIEWING CHARLTON HESTON).

THE SONG "MAGGIE" WAS WRITTEN BY RAY DORSET - FOR ALL INTENTS AND PURPOSES THE MAIN MAN BEHIND JUG BAND "MUNGO JERRY". THEY HAD THE HITS "IN THE SUMMERTIME", "HELLO NADINE" AND "LADY ROSE"...AND THEIR OWN VERSION OF "MAGGIE" .

RAY, LATER IN THE 1980s, WROTE "FEELS LIKE I'M IN LOVE" FOR KELLY MARIE.

THE TED BULL 7"' SINGLE WAS REALLY CATCHY BUT NOT A BIG HIT. IT WAS ALSO VERY SHORT....YES, TOO SHORT TO GLIDE AROUND THE JAZZ HALL DANCE FLOORS, SO I HAD A GO AT MAKING IT A LITTLE LONGER...HERE IS TED DOING HIS ROARING TWENTIES JAZZ TAKE ON A JUG BAND CLASSIC:
